Medical cannabis patients will host a major educational event in the UK next month, aiming to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare professionals through evidence, empathy and lived experience.

The international patient-led organisation We, The Patients, will bring its educational series to London next month as it continues to reshape the conversation around medical cannabis in Europe.

The event, which is being held at the Barbican in London on Friday 7 November, aims to build bridges with healthcare professionals and improve understanding around the use of cannabis-based medicines in chronic pain by spotlighting scientific evidence alongside lived experience.

It follows the success of its patient-led event in Bern, Switzerland on Saturday 11 October, in collaboration with Medcan Schweiz, and previous gatherings in Madrid and Zurich last year, which brought together clinicians, researchers and policy makers.

Held in partnership with UK advocacy group PatientsCann UK, patients will lead conversations that bring together doctors, scientists, and advocates to co-create understanding around the therapeutic use of cannabis and pain management.

The programme includes presentations, patient testimonials and practical workshops that showcase the latest evidence on cannabis-based treatments for chronic pain, offer insight into lived experience and deliver hands-on demonstrations into the mechanisms and administration of these therapies.

Founder and chair of We, The Patients, Carola Pérez, says the aim of these events is to “foster collaboration, trust and community”, and that progress in medical cannabis begins by listening to patients.

“These events are not just conferences — they are bridges,” says Pérez.

“Patients are leading the way, inviting clinicians and researchers to walk alongside them. Together, we’re creating a new model of care — one built on empathy, knowledge, and real-life experience.”

Each event is designed to provide a safe, accessible, and welcoming space for all attendees, and includes:

  • On-site medical support for patients who may need assistance.
  • Scheduled breaks and rest areas to ensure comfort throughout the day.
  • Thoughtful catering adapted to all needs: vegetarian, gluten-free, and alcohol-free options.
  • A welcome bag for every patient, filled with useful and meaningful items.
  • Full video recordings, later shared on the We, The Patients YouTube channel, ensuring open access for all.

The event takes place on Friday 7 November from 11am – 4pm and is free of charge, with limited registration available here.
