Blue Light Card holders, including emergency service workers and health and social care staff can now access medical cannabis at a reduced cost, following the expansion of a UK initiative.
Medical cannabis distributor, Grow Pharma, has announced the expansion of its access scheme, the Grow Access Project (GAP) to include Blue Light Card holders.
The Grow Access Project was launched in 2022 with the aim of reducing cost-related barriers to prescribed cannabis medicines for patients on benefits and UK armed forces veterans.
Expanding the initiative aims to make medical cannabis more accessible to a broader number of patients who may benefit from the treatment, including those serving in the emergency services, NHS and social care sector.
The Blue Light Card is the UK’s foremost discount provider for the emergency services, NHS, social care staff, and armed forces, recognising the invaluable contributions of these professionals to society.
The scheme allows those eligible to access medicines at a reduced cost when dispensed through Grow’s joint venture partner, IPS Pharma, as well as a free first appointment and reduced repeat prescription fees at Integro Clinics.

Their physical and especially their mental health can be severely stressed, and we feel that we can contribute by supporting them by improving their access to essential cannabis medicines.
“This idea came following an opinion piece I created about the differing attitudes between some countries towards veterans using medical cannabis for mental health. Through writing this, researching the topic and hearing patient stories from front-line workers across UK civil services I felt that we just had to do something, and increasing access for all who could benefit is one of our key reasons to exist.”
Patients can access the scheme by requesting that their prescription is sent to IPS Pharma, and stamped as ‘GAP’.
